Gift Wrap

Yes, we offer gift wrapping and services! Regardless of which options you choose, you can trust us to treat your loved ones' gifts as thoughtfully as we do our own. 

Thank you for entrusting us with your gifts! Read on below for what to expect with our gifting services.

How to Order a Gift

We treat an order as a gift if you do one of these:

  • Select the "This order is a gift" option on the product page, or
  • Include an Order Note / Message to Seller (we read every note!), or
  • Contact us at least 24 hours in advance of shipping (email, phone, chat...)

What to Expect From Our Gift Experience

No price information in the box (all orders!)

None of our standard packing slips include price information. Your secret is safe with us, even if you forgot to mark the order as a gift!

Gift receipts with return instructions

For every order marked gift, we print a special gift receipt. It includes information about the product and return options.

Shipping directly to gift recipients

For all orders marked as a gift, we check the Billing and Shipping name/address:
  • If the names are the same, we assume the order is going to the gift-giver. For gift-givers, we leave the gift receipt outside the gift wrappings so the giver can choose whether or not to give the gift receipt. 
  • If the names are different, we assume it is going to the gift-receiver. For the gift-receiver, we tuck the gift receipt inside the wrappings so it's one of the last things to be seen during unwrapping (and won't spoil the surprise inside!).

Special instructions in order notes

We follow your special instructions to the best of our ability. Leave us a detailed note in the "Message to Seller" during checkout, or contact us separately via email / chat / phone.

Keeping multiple / mixed gifts organized

In the absence of special instructions:

  • If the items are different, then we will wrap them together into one gift package.
  • If the items are the same, we will wrap them separately.
  • If some of the item(s) are not gifts, please let us know in the order notes.
  • We organize Group Gifts as neatly as possible to facilitate to your gift giving with the monogram on the outside of the packaging on a removable post-it note.

Gift Wrapping Options

Hand-written gift notes

If you provide a gift message, then we will hand-write your gift note on the card for you. (For very long messages that won't fit on a card, we will print the message on paper and include with the card.)

If no gift message is provided, we include a blank card for you to complete when it arrives.

If the order is going to directly to the recipient and there is no gift note specified, then we will hand-write "From: [your name]".

We will write your gift note faithfully to the best of our ability. We have included simple drawings and written in languages other than English, even Morse code!

Types of Gift Wrap: Plain, Walnut's, Furoshiki

Plain Wrap (Recyclable)

As a customer service, we'll wrap your gift in plain, recyclable kraft paper, newsprint or tissue paper, with a simply knotted paper ribbon. Sometimes we decoratively use bits of our branded gift wrap, too. This is just our way of saying "thank you"!

Walnut's Gift Wrap (Recyclable)

We designed custom-branded gift wrap featuring an artistic line drawing of Jim Golden's "Walnut Studiolo" art photography printed on recycled content kraft. On our blog, we share the story behind our custom gift wrap.

For this upgrade, we take a little more time with your package, adding a few more thoughtful touches like tying the recyclable paper ribbon into a bow and upgrading to an embossed white florist's card for the gift note.

Furoshiki Cloth Wrap (Re-usable)

New in 2024, we're excited to offer furoshiki gift wrap! This is the traditional Japanese art of wrapping items in cloth with careful knots and folds.

For our furoshiki, we use our own specialty Bandana! (You can specify if you prefer Black, Navy, or Red during checkout, if you like.) The bandana is a re-usable item. Not available on all items due to its size.
