Preppers are quite particular about what they put in their emergency survival packs. But one item that often gets overlooked is small, lightweight games. Games can soothe, occupy, and calm, or even become a friend-maker.

Why Preppers Need Small Games
Preppers are prepare and maintain at least one of three different packs: the Bug Out Bag, the Go Bag, and the Get Home Bag.
Each of these bags will have a specific purpose unique to the person or family, their location, and which disasters they might reasonably expect.
The contents of any of these bags include some combination of survival supplies: water, food, health care, tools, cash, shelter, documents.

Generally within the tactical and prepping communities, they recognize there may be a need for each of these:
- Bug Out Bags are also called "72-hour bags". They are generally prepped for an off-site, off-grid, camping type situation.
- Go Bags are government-recommended emergency preparedness bags in the event of a disaster. They are generally prepped for leaving one's home and traveling to a temporary shelter within 24 hours.
- Get Home Bags are also for travel. They are generally prepped for getting from elsewhere to home, generally within 48 hours.

So why add games to this short and critical list?
Take it from someone who knows: history shows us that soldiers made room in their packs for pocket-sized games. (The war effort during WWII is why we have such a wonderful array of travel game designs today.)
Games keep us awake, occupy our minds and keep them sharp, and pass the time pleasantly. They can calm and distract nervous ones, giving them something to focus on. And in some situations, they can be friend-makers, too.
