Homegrown Fruit Snacks

Flavor: Air-Dried Mixed Fruit

Simply prepared, low-sugar snacks made from fruit harvested in our gardens. Grown using organic, no-chemical methods in our biodiverse and regenerative homestead garden

That Garden-Grown Homemade Flavor

Our small batch snacks made in our home kitchen have that unmistakeable homemade taste. Made from this year's harvest using fresh fruit preserved within hours of harvesting.

Natural Freeze-Dried and Air-Dried Fruit

We preserve our fruit for snacking through two different methods: freeze-drying and air-drying (dehydrating). We leave the peel on for extra fiber. With some fruits such as apples and pears, we dip them in diluted honey water or lemon juice to reduce browning. For fruit leather and some fruit we add a little sugar or spice for fun and flavor. Never ever: chemicals, sulfites.

Chewy Air-Dried Fruit

Air-dried fruit is chewy and soft. Fruit rolls (fruit leather) are an air-dried fruit puree.

To air-dry, we use a dehydrator, which circulates warm air (135 - 145 degrees F) until most of the moisture has evaporated. This process also lightly cooks the fruit so it shrinks and changes color.

Crunchy Freeze-Dried Fruit

Freeze-dried fruit has a crunchy texture and the flavor is bright and fresh.

To freeze-dry, we take our fresh garden product directly to our home-scale freeze-drying machine. Freeze-drying requires a specialty machine to dehydrate foods through rapidly freezing down to -40 degrees, then lowering the pressure with a vacuum, removing the ice via sublimation.Because of the low temperatures, the fruit retains more of its original qualities: its color, shape, nutrients, and aromatics are closer to fresh.

Flavors

Seasonal and limited in supply until next year's harvest. Currently on offer, we have:

  • Air-Dried Mixed Fruit.A mix of sliced apples and pears dried with different techniques: honey wash, lemon juice wash, and cinnamon sugar. 1.2 ounce bag.
  • Freeze-Dried Pear Slices. Tree-grown slices of Ubileen pears, ripened to peak flavor under refrigeration, dipped in a honey wash and freeze-dried. 1 cup bag.
  • Freeze-Dried Mixed Fruit. Each bag contains a mix of freeze-dried seasonal fruit, including blueberries, blackberries, Asian pears, pears, and/or apples. Apples and pears are dipped in a honey wash. 1 cup bag.
  • Air-Dried Fruit Roll Mix.A mix of air-dried pureed fruit leather, with added cane sugar and lemon juice: Crunchy Seedy Blackberry, Cinnamon Apple, Apple-Blueberry. 3 rolls, approximately 2 ounces.

How to Enjoy Fruit Snacks

  • Toss in your purse, car, or gym bag for quick and healthy snacks on the go.
  • Delicious when added to granola or oatmeal!
  • Rehydrate freeze-dried fruit: add equal parts liquid such as water or milk and let sit to soak in. Proceed with using just like fresh fruit.
  • Use in recipes: our freeze-dried fruit in particular rehydrates beautifully when added to recipes.

Sustainability Features

  • Biodegradable product and packaging
  • Grown and preserved without chemicals
  • No plastic packaging: Plant cello bags (not plastic) can be composted or will biodegrade in the landfill - not recyclable.
