Our unique design serves two functions: 1) as a tactile top tube protector and 2) as a shoulder cushion for those who prefer to "portage" their bicycle on their shoulder - whether you’re a crosscycling athlete or an urban commuter.
Like our other easy to sew on products, the Portage Strap comes as a kit that you stitch on yourself with pre-punched stitching holes, needle, thread, and instructions.
The natural oils in your hands burnish our high-quality American leather into a glossy patina that will last you a lifetime. You get to keep the patina you've earned: you can transfer it from bike to bike, and over the years it will only get more beautiful with use and time.
Fits standard bicycle frame tubing of 1.125" diameter (approximately 2.86 cm).
Yes! This item can be monogrammed with up to 3 characters using our 1/2" font set. Monogramming can add 2-3 days to the turnaround time. Monogram placement is shown in the last photo. Learn more about monogramming.
Replacement stitch kits, double-sided tape, and leather care dressing available in our Parts section.

Appx 13" long by 3 3/4" wide. Fits road frames with 1 1/8" diameter tubing. The strap on the down tube is 3.5" long and on the top tube is 4.5". Please measure your bike to make sure there is enough room between cable braze-ons, if any, for the 4.5" strap on the top tube.
Included in each purchase is one Portage Strap, and a stitch kit containing needle, thread, and instructions.

We recommend ensuring there is no friction (no touching)between the Portage Strap and the cabling systems of your bike. Such as, around a cable housing instead of against the bare cable. For those bikes, we recommend using our Bicycle Frame Handle instead.
