"Your Gift Is On Its Way!" Printable Card for Late and Delayed Gifts

We created a print-at-home hand-drawn card for gift givers. It matches the creative style that goes into our handmade creations and presents a solution for last-minute or delayed gifts.

Why? An Instant Solution for Last-Minute and Delayed Gifts

Use this instant download card as a proxy for your gift when you need something to give in person. This may happen because:

  • You ordered on time but the package was unexpectedly delayed or lost in the mail (don't worry: we get shipping insurance!)
  • You placed the order too late to arrive in time
  • The order is being shipped directly to the recipient's home rather than the gifting occasion / location

With this card, you can show the gift receiver the same thoughtfulness and expression of love that went into the buying the gift. It's a tangible object you can hand over in that important moment.

This printable card uses a standard and creative origami folding technique to maximize the gift-opening experience: it folds into a substantial-feeling envelope with a colored liner and a slide-out card. The optional bow around the card keeps the card shut and creates a gift-opening "unboxing" experience.

How-to: Printable Gift Card Instructions

To make this card, you'll need:

  • 2 sheets of standard US letter-sized paper
  • A printer capable of printing double-sided (if you don't have one: ask at your local library for help!)
  • Scissors
  • Optional: about 14" of twine, ribbon, cord, or thread

Instructions on how to make the gift card envelope:

  1. Print this file double-sided
  2. Follow the directions on the print-out* in order (steps 1-7): cut and fold the envelope, liner, and card
  3. Write your personal message on the card and slide into the envelope
  4. Optional: tie the card closed with a small ribbon or piece of twine

Our card insert includes space for you to write a personal note. You might want to use this for:

  • an expression of love and your signature
  • teaser (or spoiler!) on what gift is on its way
  • an invitation to get together again after the gift arrives

No Fold Version: Card Only

If you're not into the origami folding project for the envelope:

Simply print out the third page and use the little card alone in a standard gift card envelope!

For Standard Gift Cards: Envelope Only

You can also use the folding envelope design to present standard US-sized gift cards!

Standard gift cards are 3.375“ x 2.125”.

To use our folding envelope with a standard gift card: print out the entire file, and use the envelope and liner only. Insert your gift card instead of our folding "on its way!" card.

TIP: make sure your printer is capable of printing at exactly 100%. (How to guess-and-check: once printed, measure the envelope cut size with a ruler: it should be 7" x 10".)
