We made this landing page to gauge local interest in:
organizing Oregon Coast makers, producers etc as a mutual aid society / co-op / professional organization (long-term)
and/or
collaborating together on a holiday sales project: collaborative “Oregon Coast Made” gift baskets (short-term)
Take the Interest Survey (3 min) >>>
The goal is to support our individual businesses through collective action and mutual aid. “Support” means whatever interested businesses collectively (democratically) decide they want or need: including getting more sales, co-marketing, networking, etc. It’s been a tough year, and we believe there is strength in diversity and cooperation!
The holiday gift basket project is an idea that would (hopefully) bring sales and awareness to maker businesses in the near-term.
Producers, artisans, growers, crafters, bakers, artists, makers, graphic designers, photographers, etc. People who use creativity and skills to make stuff for sale in the general North Oregon Coast region.
This call for interest is meant to be inclusive to all and you’re welcome to forward it to others, including general supporters who want to help.
For the makers organization, we’re proposing an interest meeting to set the priorities of the group, to be determined democratically (including whether or not to do a holiday project).
For the holiday project, we’re proposing the group make and sell Oregon Coast Made gift baskets – as a cooperative product composed of all our products. This is not charity: we are not asking for donations. The gift basket items will be paid for by sales.
To be determined democratically by the group.
For the holiday gift baskets, ideas are holiday fairs at the Grange and Astoria, maybe local retail businesses and direct-to-customers.
We’ve created an Interest Survey: please fill it out, even if you’re not interested! We welcome your feedback.
If there is enough interest, we’ll organize an in-person meeting in the next two weeks (with an optional zoom dial-in).
