Leather Care

  • Walnut's own leather care product has been formulated for the unique requirements of Walnut Studiolo's products, for vegetable-tanned leather and outdoor use.

The product we've made is composed of time-tested natural ingredients that have been used since the days of New England fishermen waxing their leather boots, and are recommended by the Library of Congress for leather care.

Designed for Walnut Studiolo's leather products, the Leather Care Dressing is weather-proofing, conditioning but not softening, and has antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-mildew properties.

It can be used on the wood sides of the pocket pannier and seat barrel bag as well as the leather.

Formulated and created by Valerie and tested by Geoff in the shop, we think the new leather care products are awesome. Read more about our leather care recommendations here.

ABOUT LEATHER CARE: Walnut recommends you apply a light coat of dressing whenever your leather product begins to look dry, or about once or twice a year or so. Apply less frequently if your gear is used occasionally, like on the weekends, and stored indoors, or apply more often if it's used daily or left out in the elements for long periods of time. No matter what product you use, make it a light coat, and buff it with a clean dry rag. For more about leather care recommendations, go here

Renewed breath of life

Aloha,
We are a family of hunters and huntresses.
We understand the process of giving and taking as a unbreakable natural process of exsistsnce.
We use natural materials in our implements such as leather for our knife sheaths, belts, boots etc. they are beautiful, practical, organic and have deep meaning for us.We believe that a life given for a certain purpose must be honored and cared for as best as possible as long as it is serving us and our well-being. We appreciate craftsmen and women who use natural and organic ingredients towards there craft. Your leather care dressing does as it states on the tin it comes in. It conditions our newer leather, restores our old heirloom leather pieces and waterproofs them which is a must as we travel thru the rainforests of our region. Nothing synthetic in it which I appreciate greatly. Leather is very special to us and only the best will touch them. New and old pieces are cherished and your dressing provides them with the care and aloha that they deserve!
The true root meaning of aloha is “ breath of life”

Easy to apply, smells nice, not convinced about waterproofing. But ordered because recommended by the designer of my bag, vereverto. Would buy again.

The Perfect Maintenance for my Traveler's Company's Traveler's Notebook (TN)

After trying four (4) different leather cleaner/moisturiser, Walnut Studiolo's Leather Care is perfect for my requirements. It darkens a couple of shades during application but returns just a shade from the original colour, which is perfect.

The ability for the leather to absorb also means that the leather does not feel oily but also removes/minimises leather scratches which makes it a MUST have for any TN lover.

This was applied on the Black, Brown, Olive and Camel TN. I am confident that this will be my go to moisturiser not just for my beloved TNs but for all vegetable tanned leather products I own... including a huge load of Bellroy products.
