I wrapped my black and silver road bike with the black leather. They are beautiful on the bike, and are made of a very high quality leather. It stretched like a dream, not a worry about tearing. On my standard width bars, I nearly used the full length of the leather, and had to back up and stretch it more the first time to get it to fully cover them, I used the figure 8 method without the extra short strip installed under the hoods. Once on, they are great, they have a great grip feel for bare hands, but they do not offer much by way of padding. So on longer rides, I will probably wear padded bike gloves (which I often do anyway). I might consider an under layer of cork tape next time.
First off this is proper full grain leather thinly pared not cheap leather like you’d find on every other leather bar tape. Secondly my tape, the honey colour is a perfect match for my Brooks Saddle, far better than their own or anyone else’s. Thirdly, it wraps and stretches really, really well and re-wraps as many times as you like. Lastly, their customer service is equally brilliant. I wouldn’t consider anything else now.
Very beautiful on the bike. Great classic look on my Raleigh Grand Vitesse. Just installed them today.
I love this bar wrap. It just looks so good on my bike. Plenty of grip, just enough padding (not much though), smells incredible, is stunning to look at, but mostly since its reusable and you suck at wrapping bars (like myself) you can try try try again!! It was a bit of sticker shock at first, but for a bar tape you can get years and years of use out of its well worth the money. Very high quality.
Attached is my humble attempt at finishing my bar wrap using artificial sinew. It's a first draft but I'm pretty happy with the result. It's nicely waxy and stretchy so I didn't add any finish to it. It's held up well over a few hundred miles.I used the same tying off technique as in the YouTube video on using twine/shellac. So far I love the wraps. I haven't had any comments about them yet.
Can't get near enough to people!
